Episode 193—Urban Warfare in Ukraine with John Spencer

We see it in Ukraine, Iran, and Gaza; cities are crucial military objectives. With dense populations and critical infrastructure, they are the decisive terrain of modern conflict.

My guest today is John Spencer. John and I discuss the evolution of urban warfare in Ukraine, and what it means for future conflict.

John Spencer is a retired U.S. Army officer and one of the leading contemporary experts on urban warfare. He served for 25 years as an infantry officer, including combat tours in Iraq, and later became the Chair of Urban Warfare Studies at the Modern War Institute at the United States Military Academy.
